Beyond2020 is a brainchild of Peter Korchnak and Renee Spears, both sustainable business owners in Portland, Oregon, who wanted something different from the city’s multitude of sustainability-related networking and conference events
1) to learn from and interact with other sustainable business people,
2) to build a stronger sustainability community out of the many sector- or initiative-specific ones,
3) to bridge conversation and action by discussing what sustainable businesses can do and then do it, and
4) to enjoy themselves while at it.

I’m excited to attend the January UnConference on going beyond the choir. I’m looking at how to integrate sustainable business practices in an office of 40-50 real estate brokers. We have a great group of people, but I see areas where we could make great strides. I’m anxious to gather some tools for sharing my ideas and skills in that environment.

I would definitely be there…if we weren’t teaching a class that night from 6 till 7:30! This is an exciting idea, though, and one that I’d be pleased to participate in next time. With a little more notice, I’ll even host a session. Lookin’ forward to it.
